today laid the foundation stone for the first station of the Dubai MetroBlue Line – marking the official launch of one of the city’s most ambitious mobility projects to date.
The new Blue Line is scheduled to open on September 9, 2029, further enhancing connectivity across key residential and commercial districts in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
“We continue to develop the city, committed to making it the best city to live in the world,” said Sheikh Mohammed during the ceremony.
Since its launch, the Dubai Metro has transported more than 2.5 billion passengers, averaging 900,000 riders daily. The new Blue Line will add 30km to the network, with 14 stations, including 9 elevated and 5 underground, and will operate 28 trains.
Once completed, the total Metro network will span 131 km with 78 stations, moving up to 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions and reducing traffic congestion on major routes by 20%.

The Blue Line will link nine major districts, including:
Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 & 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City – home to over 1 million residents.
